Fireforge: Fire Alarm Tools

NAC drop, battery, candela & conduit bending — the fire alarm tech's toolbox.

Fireforge is a field toolbox for fire alarm technicians — twelve calculators and references that do the math you actually do on a job, right on your phone, with no signal required.

Built by someone from the trade, for the trade. No account, no sign-up, no clutter. Open it in a panel can in a basement and it just works.

WHAT'S INSIDE

• Conduit Bending — 90° stubs, back-to-backs, offsets, kicks, 3- and 4-bend saddles, rolling offsets and segmented 90s. Tell it what you're bending around and it works the marks back from the obstacle, then draws the pipe and shows where to put the bender at each mark. Choose exact trigonometry or the rounded numbers printed on your bender.

• NAC Voltage Drop — enter your panel's alarm voltage, wire gauge, run length and load, and get the end-of-line voltage, your margin over the appliance minimum, loop resistance and the maximum run length. Instant pass/fail.

• Battery Calculator — add every device on the panel with its standby and alarm current, set your standby hours, alarm minutes and derating factor, and get the required amp-hours and the battery size to buy. NFPA 72 secondary-power math.

• Candela & Strobe — find the minimum wall candela for a room from the NFPA 72 tables, check spacing, and look up typical device current for planning.

• Voice / Speaker — lay out 25V and 70V speaker circuits, add taps, and check amplifier load, headroom and line impedance.

• Audibility (dBA) — estimate sound pressure over distance against ambient, with public-mode and sleeping-area checks.

• Resistors & EOL — 4, 5 and 6-band resistor colour-code decoder, end-of-line supervision current, and series/parallel resistance.

• Ohm's Law — volts, amps, ohms and watts, any two in, the rest out.

• Conduit Fill — the smallest legal conduit for the cable you're pulling.

• NFPA 72 Reference — quick field cheat sheets: mounting heights, strobe and audible rules, circuit classes, wiring and supervision, detector spacing.

• Device Library — the app ships no manufacturer data on purpose (cut sheets are copyrighted and change by model and revision). Instead you enter a device's real standby and alarm current once, attach the manual as a PDF or snap a photo of the cut sheet, and reuse it — the Battery Calculator can pull your saved numbers straight in.

WHY TECHS LIKE IT

• Works fully offline — no data connection needed anywhere in the building.
• Nothing to sign into. It doesn't collect your work.
• Your device library, manuals and photos stay on your phone.
• Clean, high-contrast screens that read in a dark electrical room.

FREE AND PRO

Fireforge is free, with the everyday tools — conduit bending, NAC voltage drop, battery, candela, Ohm's law, resistors, the reference sheets and the device library — available to everyone. A one-time Fireforge Pro unlock adds the voice/speaker and audibility calculators, conduit fill, the advanced saddle and rolling-offset bends, and removes ads. One purchase, no subscription.

IMPORTANT

Fireforge is a calculation aid, not a substitute for the adopted code, the manufacturer's data sheets, the approved shop drawings or the authority having jurisdiction. Fire alarm work is life-safety work: always verify against the current NFPA 72 edition in force in your area and the actual device documentation before you install. The planning values in the app are starting points, not final design figures.
