SlipKeep: Receipt & Expense — Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 9, 2026 · SlipKeep for
Android (package com.tapforgestudios.slipkeep) · Developer:
TapForge Studios · Contact: contact@tapforgeapps.com
The short version
- Your receipts stay on your phone. SlipKeep has no account system and no server. We never receive your receipts, photos, amounts, merchants, jobs or notes.
- Scanning happens on your device. Edge detection, cropping and text recognition run on the phone, not in the cloud.
- Backups go where you choose, directly from your phone to a folder you pick (for example a Google Drive or Dropbox folder). They never pass through us.
- The free version shows ads from Google AdMob, which collects some device data for advertising (explained below). SlipKeep Pro has no ads and loads no ad code.
1. Information that stays on your device
SlipKeep stores the following in its private app storage on your device, where other apps can't read it:
- Receipts: merchant, total, tax, date, category, job or client, business-use percentage, whether it's deductible, payment method, notes and return/warranty dates.
- Receipt photos you scan or import.
- Settings: theme, language, currency, monthly budget, reminder choices, the backup folder you picked, and your Pro status (as reported by Google Play).
- Small counters that make the app work: scans used this month, your logging streak, and when SlipKeep last asked for a rating.
- Crash reports (see section 8), kept on the device until you send or dismiss them.
You can delete individual receipts in the app. Uninstalling SlipKeep deletes all of this from your device, so make a backup or export first if you want to keep it.
If Android's own backup (Google account backup or "copy my data" to a new phone) is turned on for your device, Android may include SlipKeep's data in that backup. That backup is controlled by you and your Google account, not by us.
2. Scanning and text recognition
When you scan a receipt, SlipKeep uses Google's ML Kit document scanner, which runs inside Google Play services on your device and returns the cropped image to SlipKeep. SlipKeep then reads the text with ML Kit text recognition, whose model is built into the app. Both run on your device: no image and no recognized text is uploaded by SlipKeep or ML Kit.
ML Kit may send Google limited diagnostic information to keep its features working and measure their performance: device model and Android version, app name and version, a device identifier, performance data such as processing time, the image size and format settings used, and error codes. According to Google, ML Kit does not share this data with third parties. See ML Kit Terms & Privacy.
If Google's scanner isn't available on a device, SlipKeep falls back to its own simple camera screen. The photo is saved in SlipKeep's private storage.
3. Backup, restore and export
- Back up now saves one file (your receipts and photos) to a location you choose using Android's system file picker.
- Automatic backup (Pro) writes a new backup file every few days to the folder you chose, using Android's job scheduler when the battery isn't low. SlipKeep keeps the most recent backups in that folder and removes older SlipKeep backups there.
- Restore reads a backup file you pick.
SlipKeep never signs in to Google Drive, Dropbox or any other service, never sees your passwords, and can only access the folder or file you choose. Backup files are not encrypted by SlipKeep, so store them somewhere you trust. You can turn off automatic backup or remove the folder at any time in Settings → Backup & restore.
Exports (spreadsheet CSV, PDF report or accountant package) are created on your device. They leave it only when you share them yourself, for example by email to your accountant.
4. Widget, Quick Settings tile and reminders
The home-screen widget shows this month's total, number of receipts and deductible amount. It's calculated on your device, but anyone who can see your unlocked home screen can see it. You can remove the widget at any time.
Reminders (weekly nudge, monthly recap, tax-season and return/warranty reminders) are scheduled and created on your device. SlipKeep doesn't use a push-notification server. You control them in Settings → Reminders and in Android's notification settings.
5. Advertising (free version only)
The free version shows ads through Google AdMob. Google's Mobile Ads SDK collects and shares the following with Google to show and measure ads, and to prevent fraud:
- Device or other identifiers: your Android advertising ID and app set ID. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in Android's settings.
- Approximate location: estimated from your IP address. SlipKeep doesn't request or use your device's location.
- App interactions: for example app launches, ad taps and video views.
- Diagnostics: for example app launch time, hang rate and energy use.
Where required by law (for example in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, and under US state privacy laws), SlipKeep shows Google's consent message before ads are requested. You can change your choices at any time in Settings → Ad privacy → Privacy options.
SlipKeep Pro removes ads completely, and no ad code runs for Pro users. Google's policies: Google Privacy Policy · How Google uses information from apps that use its services.
6. Purchases
Subscriptions and the lifetime unlock are handled by Google Play Billing. Google collects and processes your payment details; we never receive card or bank information. SlipKeep asks Google Play on your device whether you own Pro and remembers the answer on the device, so Pro keeps working offline. We don't operate a purchase server.
7. Ratings and other apps
- SlipKeep may show Google Play's in-app review card after a success (for example after a backup). Google runs this card. We don't learn whether you left a review or who you are.
- Settings → More from TapForge Studios shows icons
of our other apps. The icons are loaded from Google Play's public image
server (
play-lh.googleusercontent.com). The request contains no receipt data or identifiers from SlipKeep, just like loading an image on a website.
8. Crash reports and support email
If SlipKeep crashes or a step is interrupted, it saves a technical report on your device (app version, device model, Android version and the step it was on) and offers to email it to us. It is never sent unless you tap send, and it contains no receipt contents, photos, amounts or merchant names.
If you email us (for support, feedback or a crash report), we receive your email address and what you write. We use it only to reply and fix problems, keep it only as long as needed for that, and delete it on request. We don't use analytics or crash-reporting services such as Firebase.
9. Permissions SlipKeep uses
- Camera: to photograph receipts (only while you're scanning).
- Notifications: for the reminders you turn on.
- Internet and network state: for ads (free version), purchases and the icons in "More from TapForge Studios".
- Advertising ID: for ads in the free version.
- Biometrics: only if you turn on App lock. Android's own unlock screen checks your fingerprint, face or screen lock; SlipKeep only learns "unlocked" or "not unlocked" and never sees or stores any biometric data.
- Run at startup: to re-schedule your reminders and automatic backup after the phone restarts.
- Google Play billing: to sell and restore SlipKeep Pro.
10. Your choices and rights
Because your receipts and settings live only on your device, you control them directly. You can view, edit, export and delete them in the app, and uninstalling deletes them.
We don't hold personal data about you on any server, so there's nothing for us to delete or export beyond emails you've sent us. Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, the UK GDPR or US state privacy laws such as the CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete or port your personal data, or to object to or restrict its use. Email us to exercise them. For ad data, use Settings → Ad privacy or Android's advertising ID controls, and Google's privacy tools.
We don't sell your personal information, and we don't share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, except as Google AdMob does in the free version under your consent choices.
11. Security
Receipts and photos are stored in SlipKeep's private app storage, protected by Android's app sandbox and your device's lock screen and encryption. Everything sent over the internet by Google's SDKs (ads, billing, ML Kit diagnostics) is encrypted in transit. Keep your phone locked and store backups in accounts you trust.
12. Children
SlipKeep is a finance tool for adults. It isn't directed at children under 13 (or under 16 where local law requires). We don't knowingly collect children's personal information. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email us and we'll delete it.
13. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll post the new version at this address with a new effective date and mention material changes in the app's release notes.
